InstagramThe children have been very interested in superheroes this week. We have been learning that one of the best superpowers to have is kindness, the children have been doing many acts of kindness throughout the last few weeks. Our superhero themed activities are always a big hit, it engages the children to use their imagination and participate in mark making activities. The children have been fully engaged making props to support their role play. It was a great activity to get more children mark marking and for purpose as they showed such an interest in this. #superhero #markmaking #finemotorskills #handandeyecoordination #imaginaryplay #kindness #positvity #bekind #helpingothers

InstagramOur first of many campfire’s of 2023. We started by introducing our new child to our campfire rules. We drew a big square in front of our crates. We used this as a clear visual to not move across the line. We stuck magic glue on our seats and talked about keeping us safe by staying sitting down. We also included visuals this time for good looking, listening and sitting. These visuals are familiar to our children as we use them at the start of our story-time sessions. We were very proud of how well the children followed the rules and joined in with our campfire songs and rhymes. We learnt a new rhyme about popcorn and we said it out loud together as our popcorn was popping over the fire. We used lots of language throughout our campfire to describe what was going on and the noises we heard. We also introduced new words to their vocabulary . We all enjoyed the tasty popcorn and warm hot chocolate, it was the perfect afternoon for a campfire. #eytagteam #fire #forestschool #campfire #camfirerules #listeningskills #looking #language #hotchocolate #popcorn #newexperiences

InstagramNext week is Children’s Mental Health Week The week is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on children and young people's mental health. At BEYA we believe it is so important to support children with understanding what Mental Health is as well as learning strategies for how they can look after their own wellbeing and express their feelings and emotions. The theme of the week this year is LET’S CONNECT to encourage children (and adults) to look at how we can make meaningful connections. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our Mental Health and sense of Wellbeing. At nursery we will be reading stories that encourage children to help learn and think about their own and others feelings. Each day we will be teaching the children a different Yoga Pose so that they can use this time to be calm, relaxed and mindful. On Wednesday 8th February we will be having a ‘Dress To Express Day’. On this day we invite your children to wear their favourite outfit or a colour that makes them feel in a fabulous mood! Throughout the week we will also be doing a sponsored event called 'Mindful Minutes'. Each day the children will be taking part in a daily 5 minute relaxation session to pause and just be in the moment. Being Mindful is a lifelong skill that can support positive wellbeing. The money we raise will be used to purchase small world resources that can help children to explore their feelings and emotions as well as expressing their worries through play. #childrensmentalhealthweek #childrensmentalhealth #mindfulness #earlyyearsmindfulness #earlyyearsyoga #eyfsyoga #nurseryfundraiser #earlyyearsideas #maintainednurseryschools #barnetearlyyearsalliance

Instagram🟡Continuing with our ball painting on a larger scale outside…… 🔴We used different sized balls to experiment and today we learnt that the smaller, heavier balls rolled much faster….. 🟢One child had a great idea to add a tunnel for the balls to roll through……. 🔵Wonderful to see our children experimenting, sharing ideas and learning through such a fun creative activity ….. #ballpainting #earlyyearspainting #playingandlearning #eyfsexperiments #earlyyearsplay #outdoorplay #earlyyearsart #earlyyearsexploration #thisisearlyyears #learningtheoughplay #eytagteam #teachersofinstagram #theirplaytheirway #earlyyearseveryday #maintainednurseryschools #barnetearlyyearsalliance

InstagramPatterns in paint with golf balls. Using our loose parts to roll the golf balls in paint. The children loved watching them roll down in different directions and watched with excitement. They were using their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination, when picking the ball up and putting it into position. The end result showed some beautiful colourful patterns on the paper as well as the floor. 😆 #eytagteam #messyplay #golfballs #painting #patterns #direction #colours #finemotorskills #handeyecoordination #turntaking #looseparts

InstagramIntroducing the children to clay. Clay is open ended and natural, making it an ideal material for the children to explore. Its open-ended nature means it can be whatever the children want it to be. The children enjoyed engaging in this messy sensory play. The children began squeezing, squashing, cutting and twisting. Such a great way to get those hands working and developing the muscles in their hands. #clay #openendedplay #sensory #finemotorskills #physicaldevelopment #sensoryplay #texture #hands #handstrength

Instagram🚗 There has been lots of interest in transport at nursery with our children using loose parts, imaginary play, small world props and outdoor play to explore and learn. We have offered our children other activities to extend this interest further…… 🚙 The children have been using their woodworking skills to create vehicles, designing their work using wood and other items for wheels doors and lights. 🚜 They also went on a hunt around the garden to find various vehicles hidden in the garden encouraging team work, matching, counting and mark making…… #eyfslearning #earlyyearsplayandlearning #followingtheirinterests #woodworkintheearlyyears #woodworkskills #earlyyearswoodwork #treadurehunt #outdoorplay #eyfsmarkmaking #markmaking #usingrealtools #eytagteam #earlyyearseveryday #maintainednurseryschools #barnetearlyyearsalliance

InstagramSome fantastic loose part play today. Using all the available resources to build their own racing car. They worked as team talking through what they were doing and what they needed. One child fed the pipe through the blocks with another child pulling it through, showing great physical skills. They counted how many wheels on the car. First counting how many were on one side and then counting the other side. We then counted all the wheels to find out the total number. Great early mathematical skills lots of counting as well as understanding how shapes fit together. The children then used the chalks to write the numbers on the floor. #loosepartsplay #imaginationiseverything #imagination #imaginativeplay #earlymaths #maths #number #counting #shape #teamwork #sharingideas #workingtogether #physicaldevelopment

InstagramWho needs paper when you can use ice !…. 🧊 ❄️ ❄️We froze water in trays overnight to give the children a different surface to paint on. ❄️There has been so much fascination with the frost and ice leading to lots of questions and exploration. ❄️The children used ‘cold’ colours to paint then later in the day smashed the ice with hammers making small shards. So much learning- language, critical thinking, shape, maths, science, creativity and physical skills all in the great outdoors ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ #eytagteam #outdoorlearning #getoutside #playingandexploring #iceexploration #iceactivities #eyfsoutdoors #earlyyearsoutdoors #earlyyearsinspiration #earlyyearseveryday #nurseryeducation #maintainednurseryschools #barnetearlyyearsalliance
