InstagramMessy play with puffy, gooey slime. Thanks for the recipe @life_with_little_loves. Using 3 ingredients 1 -Cornflour 2 -Shaving foam 3-Water ( paint optional) Our clothes might have been a bit messy today but we weren’t just getting messy we were playing, exploring and learning. Messy play encourages children’s communication and language development with opportunities for adults to model descriptive language to them. When engaged in this play they were using their physical skills and developing their fine motor skills. The children were thoroughly engaged in this activity, taking turns and concentrating on what they were doing. #messyplay #languagedevelopment #barnetearlyyearsalliance #physicaldevelopment #exploring #learning #learningthroughplay #earlyyearseveryday

InstagramThis week we have introduced loose parts play to our new children. Giving them the the resources for endless learning and play opportunities. Keys are always very popular and all though lots ended up in pockets, there was also many skills being used . The children used their fine motor skills to thread string through to keep their bundles of keys together. They also used their imagination and engaged in role play using them to start the engine for their bikes. The next day we put the keys in a tuff tray where the children explored them along with other loose parts. They filled them into containers listening to and exploring the sound as they dropped them into the metal containers . They also sorted them and counted them using their early maths skills. @tufftraytuesdays #loosepartsplay #counting #imagination #roleplay #eyfsideas #eytagteam #earlychildhoodeducation #earlyyearseveryday #finemotorskills

InstagramBooks are a great way for children to understand new situations, life changes and emotions …. As our children begin to settle into our nursery we like to share various stories to support this new exciting chapter 🦉 Owl Babies is a lovely story to share at this time as Baby Owl -Bill finds it very hard when Mummy flies off but he also learns to understand Mummy does come back. It will be one of the stories we will focus on over the next few weeks as part of our key concept planning. Check out our Instagram stories for a link to enjoy the story #settlingintonursery #nurserydays #seperation #PSE #eyfs #earlyyearslearning #owlbabies #storytime #communicationandlanguage #maintainednurseryschools #barnetearlyyearsalliance

InstagramEvery year we enjoy learning about life cycle of a butterfly. Each year it brings so much learning and creativity. As well as it being a magical experience for the children🦋 Our core book was very popular ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ the children were able to talk about the story as well as retelling it with props and visuals. #theveryhungrycaterpillar #caterpillar #earlyyearsstorytelling #booksthatinspire #eyfsideas #lifecycle #butterflypainting #earlyyearslearning #ericcarle #childrensbooks #communicationandlanguage

InstagramZoom zoom zoom we’re going to the moon 🌙 🚀 Following a child’s interest in rockets has led to some wonderful creativity and learning the last 2 days. The children have been inspired to make rockets, jet packs and a giant rocket that is now flying in the garden. The children have painted, cut, drawn, made up stories, shared books, used their woodwork skills and lots of imagination. It has been wonderful seeing some of our older children who are moving onto school really embrace the idea and come up with some lovely ideas, taking the lead in the play, sharing their ideas and working independently to create what they set out to do. #earlyyearslearning #thisisearlyyears #followingtheirinterests #eyfs #space #discoveringandlearning #earlyyearscreativity #understandingtheworld #barnetearlyyearsalliance #maintainednurseryschools

InstagramOur summer time tradition making ice cream and selling it in our ice cream shop. The children helped from buying the ingredients in sainsburys to making their own homemade ice cream. Today it was ready to eat and using their special coin they all joined the queue ( doing fabulous waiting) to buy their ice cream. The children even took turns to be the shopkeeper to make sure everyone paid for their ice cream. A perfect day and celebration to a very nearly end of the school term. #homemadeicecream #shopping #number #eyfsmathsactivities #cooking #science #endoftermtrreats #celebration #makingmemories #sunnydays #summer
